This is my favourite of the six Ale Trails that I wrote for the Liberation Group last year. Why: because it combines quiet lanes, off-road walking, and dramatic cliff paths, and gives a taste of a little of everything.

Hear about island benefactors, sieges and ancient castles; see the coast of France and the outlying islands, and walk a few steps on the pristine surface of Bouley Bay Hill, host to an annual round of the British National Hillclimb Championship.

Our walk ends at the Trinity Arms, where you can enjoy a drink or something to eat afterwards.

Meeting Point: Trinity Church, Trinity.

Bus: Route 4

Difficulty: Moderate – some cliff paths & tracks.

Distance: 5 Miles (8 kilometres)
